Community Garden

Shepherd Farms South Texas (SFSTX) Community Garden is an extension of our Food Bank, becoming an alternate source of nourishment and provision for families who are in need. It is a space where people work together to obtain shared fruits and vegetables, while providing fresh, healthy access to nutritious produce, at little or no cost.

The Community Garden is also designed to strengthen relationships and social connections, creating a space where people cooperate, interact, develop friendships, and build a stronger sense of belonging. It also allows individuals and families access and a space to engage in physical exercise while improving endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility.

Biannually SFSTX also offers classes on how to preserve and can vegetables and fruits for the winter months extending the life of your food which minimizes trips to the grocery store and ultimately saves money.
